My story

A few years ago, I started out on a journey of physical and mental well-being. I felt stuck with my body and emotions, knowing I could be living more openly to new concepts.

When diving into the world of health, it’s easy to get bombarded with an abundance of information, so it can be challenging to make sense of it all. Today, I focus on continuously gathering information that will help to improve your body and awareness - I can't wait to share these experiences with you!

I base my practice on going “back” to the “basics”. Humanity started out with wholesome food from the earth, pure mineral water our bodies craved, copious amounts of sunlight, walking barefoot, nasal breathing, and a day full of movement and rhythm. We lived in tribes, with positive physical touch, a supportive community and a regulated nervous system. When we endured trauma, we had people and love surrounding us, which made it easier to overcome issues that life threw our way.

Jump to present day, we are more isolated than ever in a world full of access, but not the right kind. We are living our life through a screen, with processed foods, and shoes on our feet from the moment we could walk. We are chronic mouth-breathers, and our nervous systems are over-stimulated.

Opting for the easy route has forced us to adapt in a detrimental way. We avoid things that make us uncomfortable, but we forget that uncomfortable situations are what make us stronger and will ultimately provide a better quality of life.

The goal of Back To Basics is provide basic wellness guidance for you to live by, to help improve your life, and challenge the way you think about you and your health.

I have always believed each individual needs to do what feels right for their body. Learning to listen to your body and trust your intuition is key. Remember that you are unique and what works for someone else may not work for you. That is what I love about my job; being able to get to know each of my clients, & understanding every body’s unique needs.

I look forward to working with you to rethink the path to a healthier you.

Hi, I’m McKenna.

I discovered my love for massage therapy in 2016 and have never looked back. I am grateful to be able to help others feel their best through my chosen profession.

In addition to being a Registered Massage Therapist, I am also a Matrix Repatterning certified practitioner, focusing on releasing significant tension patterns within the tissues of the body.

As an outdoor enthusiast, I feel empowered and invigorated when I spend time in nature. Working out and hiking with my golden retriever are what help me to stay grounded. I love to cook, and especially enjoy eating delicious food. Painting is one of my favourite hobbies; I discovered a love for it at the age of 16, and continue to learn new concepts and techniques. Human psychology is one of my favourite subjects - there’s nothing more fascinating than understanding how people think and behave!
